Blood pressure and blood flow relationship
WebJul 1, 2015 · As systemic arterial blood pressure rises and falls, blood flow to the brain must remain stable in order for normal function to continue. In order to achieve this goal, cerebral vascular resistance varies, to achieve a stable plateau of flow over a fairly wide range of systemic arterial pressure. WebThe most recent study showed that patients at both extremes of the blood pressure spectrum show an increased prevalence of glaucoma. Those with low blood pressure would have low OPP and thus reduced blood flow; however, that people with hypertension also show increased risk is more difficult to reconcile.
